Useful Questions
The following information contains questions that you may need to ask and is a guide only:
- Which rooms are mine and which are shared?
- Is any furniture, bedding or equipment provided and will an inventory be made?
- Will my possessions be insured?
- Is there a cleaning rota?
- Are meals provided?
- How much is the rent (weekly or monthly) and how much is the deposit?
- Are there any service bills included?
- Can I decorate?
- Can I have friends/family to visit and stay?
- Do not give any monies for rent or deposit in advance without obtaining a receipt.
- Do not sign any contracts or documents until you have read and understood them.
- Do not be afraid to ask to see the accommodation for a second time.
- Do not forget to complete a Pre-Tenancy Determination if you are in receipt of government benefits or in receipt of a low wage.
- Do not throw away any written correspondence that you may receive from your landlord or letting agent. If you write to them make sure you keep copies of your letters.
