Lloyd Gardens Open Day
Members of Altrincham Neighbourhood Action Team held a half term
Open Day at Lloyd Gardens in Central Altrincham to promote Trust
Services and talk to residents about current issues and future
improvements.
A door knocking exercise took place the previous week to promote
the open day and complete questionnaires with residents to obtain
their views. Over 100 questionnaires have now been completed and
the information provided by residents will form the basis of the
Central Altrincham Action Plan for next year. All completed
questionnaires were entered into a prize draw and the winner of
£20 in Argos Vouchers was Mr Bickley of Lloyd Gardens.

The event was organised by Gillian Heslin, Neighbourhood Housing
Officer and members of the Neighbourhood Action Team who include,
the Caretakers, Good Neighbour Unit, Regeneration, Rents, Repairs,
Tenancy Support, Lettings and Tenant Involvement. Staff from each
of the services set up their stands and greeted the many visitors
to the event with information and advice on their services. There
was an opportunity for residents to report repairs, place bids for
properties advertised on the Choice Based Lettings System, to
receive advice on benefits and other support they can receive and
discover opportunities to get more involved. The stalls were
sheltered from the October elements by a marquee erected for the
day & visitors were treated to a delicious barbecue which kept
Neighbourhood Caretaker, Cliff Boland very busy all day.
The fire service was on hand to promote fire safety with local
residents and particularly the local children who took the
opportunity to climb into the engine to learn more.
Lots of half term activities were provided to keep the children
entertained. Jolly Jack proved very popular and had his hands full
with Punch & Judy shows & balloon modelling throughout the
day. A drawing competition to draw “My ideal house” was
won by Emma of Armitage Road and the colouring competition winners
are currently on display in the Altrincham office.
Towards the end of the day, Altrincham’s caretaking team and
local office staff lead a bulb planting event. Joined by residents
and young people, they planted lots of bulbs in the communal areas
and everyone is now looking forward to seeing the results of their
efforts, come the springtime.
