Community Panels and the Community Budget
The Trust has a Community Panel in each of its five
neighbourhood areas - Sale, Altrincham, Old Trafford, Stretford and
Urmston. The panels are made up of local tenant representatives and
other interested residents. Panels are set up to involve residents
and other stakeholders in creating sustainable neighbourhoods and
places where people want to live by amongst other things deciding
where the community budget is spent.
The community budget is a pot of money, allocated to the
Community Panels and is made available for schemes to help improve
the security, health and wellbeing of the local environment, as
well as other new initiatives in the areas.
Over £120,000 is available in each area within a 12 month
period, and schemes run from 1st April to end of
March. Submissions can be put forward at any time to
your local area housing office; however submissions for major grant
applications (over £1000) are only presented to community
panels in April each year. Minor grant applictions (up to a maximum
of £1000) are presented to the Community Panels in April, July,
October and January.
Individual residents, Trafford Housing Trust staff, Police,
councillors, tenants and resident's associations can all make
applications for money from the community budget.
Please visit our news and events page for details on the
