Celebrating Old Trafford
A museum style history event to mark the
changing face of Old Trafford
Old Trafford is changing and we'd like to celebrate the future
of Old Trafford by looking back at its wonderful history - its not
just Manchester United and the Old Trafford Stadium that we're
known for…
Isobel Baillie Lodge was named after opera singer Dame Isobel Baillie who lived in her large
town house on Stretford Road until her death in the early 1980s.
Broadcaster Terry Christian lived in Old Trafford
as did Buzzcocks drummer John Maher. The producer of A Guy Called Gerald's "Voodoo Ray",
Smiths front man Morrissey and actress June Ritchie all lived in Old Trafford at
some point in their lives.
In order to celebrate this exciting history and the more recent
changes that have been carried out by Trafford Housing Trust, such
as the demolition of the 'bird' blocks, the refurbishment of the
'balcony' blocks and the new development at Stretford Road we are
holding an exciting event on Saturday 27th
April 1013.
The event will celebrate the history of Old Trafford in a museum
style event that will showcase photo's, videos and any other items
of interest, along with launching the new tower blocks.
More information will be posted regarding the event nearer the
time but for now we are looking for anyone that has old photos of
Old Trafford or any memorabilia / props etc. to contact us if
they'd like to showcase their items. Please contact Corinna Dale on
0300 777 77 77 or email Corinna.Dale@traffordhousingtrust.co.uk
