'Decanting' and demolition of the 'bird
The decision was taken in 2010 that the blocks will be emptied
and demolished one at a time, in a phased approach. Residents
within these blocks have therefore been moved to alternative
accommodation following the same phased approach. This process is
known as decanting.
For those of you that have been
following the demolition and watching each stage as the blocks have
been pulled down you will know that the first two blocks have now
gone and Eagle Court will soon be cleared leaving only Falcon
Court. You will have seen the long reach machinery taking the
blocks down bit by bit; well not this time! The Trust has been
working with our contractors and we believe that it will be
possible to use explosives to demolish the final tower block,
Falcon Court. The intention is to do this early in 2014 and the
team intends to start consultation with those in the surrounding
areas in September / October 2013. If you have any immediate
concerns and /or feel that you will need additional support please
contact Corinna Dale on 0300 777 7777.
Tamworth Towers Update
Hopefully residents are now starting to see and feel the
benefits of the work. The external works to these blocks has now
officially been completed and residents should now be benefitting
from much warmer homes and cheaper bills. The external work has
also made a massive difference to how the blocks look - as you can
see from the pictures below.

During this time residents within the blocks have also been
provided with new kitchens and bathrooms and therefore has
benefitted from improvements inside and outside of their homes. If
you live in one of these blocks and would like to give some
feedback please email Corinna.Dale@traffordhousingtrust.co.uk
The Trust has also been working with Action for Sustainable
Living to ensure that residents are making the most of the new
technologies. This project is part of a 'Count Us In' pilot which
aims to evaluate the importance of tenant engagement and education
when retrofitting. For more information have a look at the most

The work that the Trust has been doing with Action for
Sustainable Living has been recognised and we were awarded 'highly
commended' at the GreenBuild Awards.
And we haven't finished yet….
The Trust will be carrying out landscaping works to the estate.
This will include approximately 27 additional car parking spaces
enhanced seating areas and an adult gym!
The Trust is working with Groundwork and a small group of local
residents in order to develop a communal garden for residents on
the Tamworth Estate. The first session for this project took place
at the end of July and went really well. If you are interested in
getting involved please contact Corinna Dale on Corinna.firstname.lastname@example.org
