New homes in Old
Trafford...
Phase one - Essex Way
Work at Essex Way is now progressing well and work has started
on all 29 2 bedroom houses and 33 2 bedroom flats. This means that
they will be ready for residents to move into in late July/August
2013.
The properties will be social rented properties and will be
managed by Trafford Housing Trust. These properties will be
advertised and let through HOST, the organisation that manages the
waiting list therefore anyone interested in renting one of these
homes will need to register with them in order that you can be
provided with a bidding reference number. HOST can be contacted
directly by phone on 912 2230 or by email at
HOST@salford.gov.uk Once a bidding reference number has
been issued applicants can use this to bid on properties via the
HOST website. The properties at Essex Way will be advertised via
this system approximately every 2 - 3.
Trafford Housing Trust has a 'first lets' policy in place for
these properties and as such priority will be given to people who
fall into the following categories:
• Applicants who are living in Old Trafford and require
bigger/smaller housing.
• Applicants who work or undertake training in Old Trafford.
• Applicants who have children at school in Old Trafford.
• Applicants who have a 'Community Commitment' - Be active
within the Old Trafford community by participating in local
voluntary groups or engaging in volunteering opportunities.
If you would like more information in relation to these new
homes or have any comments/questions or queries please contact Alex

The first 12 properties have been handed over this week and
residents will be moving into them in the next few weeks. Please

Phase two - Stretford Road
Trafford Housing Trust has secured Homes and Communities Agency
(HCA) Funding to deliver more flats on the opposite side of
Stretford Road (previously the Trafford and Rylands site). The
Trust intends to build approximately 46 1 and 2 bedroom flats over
4 storeys and would like to obtain residents feedback.

Above is an artists impression of what the scheme may look
like.
The Trust has carried out consultation with local staff and
residents and has taken on board comments about what we should
build. We have now submitted planning permission for 36 apartments
over 3 storeys. This will include 27 1 bedroom flats and 9 2
bedroom flats. The aim is to market some of these properties for
shared ownership and more information will be available regarding
this next year.
For full details please visit Trafford Councils website. The
planning reference number is 80398/FULL/2013
