Trafford Housing Trust

Home Improvement

Trafford Housing Trust has spent over £137million on improvement works to tenant's homes between 2005 - 2010. Completed work since transfer in 2005, includes:

  • Installing kitchens and bathrooms to 5,140 homes
  • Rewiring 4,899 homes
  • Installing over 5,404 new heating systems
  • Installing double glazing to over 3,800 homes

To carry out this work we use the skills of various contactors such as Casey's, Wates Living Space, and our procurement partner - Procure Plus.

By 2010 all of our homes must meet the Government's Decent Homes Standard. A Trafford Standard Home would:

  • Be structurally sound and free from damp
  • Have doors and windows that are safe and provide good security
  • Have modern heating systems and are energy efficient
  • Have a modern bathroom (e.g. less than 20 years old)
  • Have modern electrical standards (e.g. less than 25 years old)
  • Be in a good environment
  • Have secure and clean communal areas
  • Have modern standards of home safety (e.g. security window locks)
  • Not be potentially dangerous to the health and safety of occupiers
