Older People Services

Providing help and support for older people

We own over 1,500 properties across Trafford suitable for older people aged between 60 or over, mainly a mixture of flats and bungalows with either 1 or 2 bedrooms. Some of our propertes are also available to over 55's.

To view our range of available homes suitable for older people please click here to visit Choice Based Lettings.

The Trust is also building a high quality 38 bed extra care scheme which will be ready in early 2011.  Newhaven is located in a prime location only a short distance from Timperley Village. The scheme will provide excellent services for over 55s including restaurants, hairdressers, shop and a small gym.

Emergency Alarm System: Each home has an emergency alarm, known as a community alarm system, which can be activated at the touch of a button, usually by a pullcord or pendant. Emergency alarms are linked to a control centre where a team of fully trained operatives will respond to any calls, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and arrange a visit from a support officer if necessary.

Sheltered Schemes: We also run 21 Sheltered Schemes which provide more independent living than at a nursing home or residential home, with individuals having their own kitchen, bathroom and front door. Each home is fitted with an emergency call system (dispersed alarm) and residents recieve visits from a dedicated Scheme Manager.

Community Alarm Service We offer a community alarm service and Telecare to non THT residents and our own tenents who live in non older people designated properties. For more information about this service please telephone the customer hub on 0300 777 7777.

It is not only the over 60s that can benefit from older people's services. The following groups are also eligible for all services:

  • People of any age with a disability and/or in receipt of a disability related benefit and in Trafford Housing Trust accommodation
