The local organisations below are part of Trafford Council’s Winter Reliance campaign, designed to provide support and activities for vulnerable and elderly people over the winter period.

ACCG – A Community Engagement Worker will visit older adults, who may be vulnerable due to a long-term health condition, disability or isolation, in their home to check on their wellbeing and offer checks on their home environment.  They will also visit older adults who have been admitted to hospital in order to offer them support and assistance once they have been discharged from hospital.  Referrals can be made by contacting Linford Sweeny on telephone:  0161 226 6334 or 0161 848 8281 or email:

Age UK Trafford – Age UK  Trafford will be offering three ‘Winter Warmth’ events throughout January to March 2018.  These events will offer advice and information packs followed by a lunch for vulnerable older adults, with travel vouchers provided for people where required.  Booking is essential.  Referrals can be made by contacting Karen Duffy on telephone: 0161 746 9752 or email:

Be Social – Trustcare – Be Social will provide a free 12 month membership to Trafford residents, who are aged over 50, to their membership club.  The club offers a calendar of activities, which can be seen here, together with a copy of their latest newsletter .  They will also offer transport for vulnerable individuals who have poor mobility.  Referrals can be made by contacting Gemma Dolby, Trafford Housing Trust, telephone (general number) 0300 777 7777 or email:

LMCP Carelink -  An outreach and assessment worker will visit individuals identified as vulnerable due to long-term health conditions, age and vulnerability or social isolation and loneliness.  The worker will complete an initial assessment, provide advice and guidance on services available and complete a support plan where necessary.  LMCP will also promote the Winter Resilience Initiative to hospital discharge teams with a view to providing culturally appropriate advice, information and support to people waiting to be discharged from hospital. Theatre of The Senses – Theatre of the Senses will offer creative workshops three times a week to those older people who may be living in poverty and isolation in order that people stay active and warm and connected.  A voucher for a hot meal will also be offered at two of these workshops.  They will also be offering a roast dinner at the end of January and will be distributing food hampers and other goods throughout the duration of the project.  Referrals can be made directly through Theatre of the Senses, telephone 0161 877 3719, email: or through the following organisations:

TLC: Talk, Listen, Change – TLC will offer counselling sessions to residents who are aged over 55+ and who are vulnerable to the effects of winter.  These sessions will be both face-to-face and telephone based and will take place either in people’s homes or at other sites in Trafford.  Referrals can be made either via self-referral via the following link or through one of the agencies listed below:

Trafford Veterans – Trafford Veterans offer a breakfast club every third Saturday of the month in Flixton to which elderly residents from the local community will be invited.  Transport will be provided for those residents who would otherwise not be able to attend.  Members will also be provided with hats, scarves and gloves in order that they are more likely to get out and about over the winter period.  Trafford Veterans will also signpost to LEAP, a local energy and money saving advisory programme.  For referral, contact Claire Wright, Telephone:  07947 865500 or email:
