Government's Emergency Budget

08 July 2015

Following the government’s emergency budget today we are aware of a number of cuts to welfare benefits that will affect our customers. We are working hard to understand the impact of these changes and to ensure we continue to provide great value for money services to our customers.

We want to reassure you that our customers are our priority and we remain by your side - committed and determined to doing everything we possibly can to support you. We also want to remind our customers of the following services available to you:

  • We can offer money support services and debt advice – we have Debt Advisors who are able to work with customers who are struggling with debt. This might include advising on income and expenditure, helping with creditors, and in some instances helping customers with insolvency options.  Our Debt Advisors are always professional and will always help customers to make informed choices about their financial position.
  • Benefit applications and appeals – we have Welfare Rights Officers who are able to help customers through the welfare benefits system. This can include making applications for benefits, or helping customers to appeal against benefit decisions, or at tribunals.  These Officers will help customers to make sure they are claiming the right benefits.
  • Financial budgeting  - we have a number of staff who can help customers with understanding how to manage a household budget. We are able to offer support on a one to one, or group basis and will talk through what customers should consider when making a household budget.
  • Employment and training opportunities – we have lots of training opportunities, most are free of charge. We also have a growing number of job opportunities both through the Trust and our partners.

For information about the above or if you have any worries or concerns please do come and talk to us.
