THT unveils 1.3m Aspen Place development in Partington

04 January 2017

Trafford Housing Trust has transformed a historic Partington site that was most recently being used as a depot into an eye-catching development of two and three bedroom houses.

External web.jpgThe £1.3 million Aspen Place development consists of 11 new homes, comprising eight three bedroom homes and three two bedroom properties, with each having two parking spaces and a landscaped garden. The project has been built in conjunction with social housing consortium JV North.

The houses are available to buy through shared ownership, meaning potential buyers who are unable to afford a whole mortgage can buy a share of a home (between 25% and 75% of the property value) and pay rent on the remaining share with the option to buy larger shares up to 100% ownership when it can be afforded.

Historically, the site had a range of different uses and at the time of purchase by Trafford Housing Trust was being used as a depot for the local parish council.

Over a hundred years ago, the site was home to a coal chute for the Manchester Ship Canal. Coal was brought to the site by rail and was used to fuel the steam ships that travelled along the canal.

2bedKitchenweb.jpgIn recent years Partington’s town centre has experienced significant investment, attracting several new businesses to the area such as Tesco Express and Partington Shopping Centre. The Trust’s Aspen Place development complements this progress by providing high quality, affordable housing and reflects the Trust’s commitment to building new homes and regenerating sometimes overlooked areas of the local community.

Kate Green, Labour Member of Parliament for Stretford and Urmston, commented: “I want to say how pleased I am to see the opening of the new homes in Partington.

Graeme Scott, Director of Developer, Trafford Housing Trust, commented: “This scheme is excellent news for Partington, and the high standards of the development will provide its residents with a great living environment.

“It’s very satisfying for the Trust to be able to regenerate sites into new neighbourhoods that will positively impact the living standards of the local community.”
