WE are immensely proud that three of our tenants have
been nominated and shortlisted for the
TPAS Awards 2012.
First of all we have Ann Guttridge from Stretford who ha
s
been shortlisted for the Tenant of the Year Award. Ann has been the
perfect community ambassador for many years in Stretford not only
in tenant involvement work she does, but in her work with
Trafford Credit
Union.
Then we have Shannon Dolan from Sale Moor and John
McGuiness from Old Trafford have both been shortlisted for Young
Person of the Year Award.
Shannon offers her time regularly to better her
community. She has inspired other young people to make a
change by involving and motivating her peers. Shannon assist
in running a youth bank in the Sale Moor area, which empowers young
people to make decisions on allocating funding to smaller youth
groups. Shannon is a keen and competent musician who has
produced her own CD and hopes to have a future in the music
industry. Trafford Housing Trust has nominated Shannon for
her sheer passion and commitment to make a change in her
community.
John who recently won THT's Young Person of the Year
Trafford Treasures Award, has been helping Trafford Housing Trust
for over 3 years in various capacities. He used to volunteer at
Sharon Youth Club where he was one of the junior helpers. He has
also volunteered at the Eden Project in Old Trafford where he
helped with youth activities and projects. Last year John received
the Volunteer of the Year award from Urban Heroes.
All three have been selected from hundreds of entries put forward
by housing organisations from across the North of England, which is
in itself a fantastic achievement.
The TPAS Awards are held each year to
celebrate and recognise Tenants who go
the extra mile, landlords and
tenantsworking together and great
ideas that show what can be achieved when people
are truly involved.
The results of the NorthWest Regional Final will be announced
at the Northern ceremony on 10 February 2012, which is the first of
three regional finals. The winners from each category go forward
into a national final that is held during the TPAS Conference in
July.
