Safeguarding Safeguarding Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a priority for THT, and we have a duty to report issues if we see them.

What is safeguarding?

Our safeguarding policies cover adults and children. We aim to protect customers' rights to live in safety and free from abuse and neglect.

THT has a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to protect people from discrimination harassment and victimisation with a protected characteristic.

Our policy tells our staff what to do when they suspect someone is being abused or harmed so that action can be taken to keep them safe. Abuse is a violation of an individual's human and civil rights by another person.

Types of abuse are described in the statutory guidance accompanying the Care Act 2014 as:

  • Physical abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Sexual abuse
  • Psychological abuse
  • Financial or material abuse
  • Modern slavery
  • Discriminatory abuse
  • Organisational abuse
  • Neglect and acts of omission
  • Self-neglect

Our staff are advised to follow specific guidance when reporting any concerns.
