Residents of South Ribble are being invited to give their views on plans for a new housing development.
Information on the new homes proposed for Penwortham Mill is available online, and residents are being encouraged to email any questions they have to Trafford Housing Trust before the plans are submitted to the Council later this year.
The plans have also been given a boost with the announcement that Lidl has revealed proposals for a new supermarket near to the 320-homes development.
Fred Crawshaw, Senior Commercial Manager at Trafford Housing Trust said: “We will be submitting a joint planning application with Lidl in the summer of 2020, so this is a great opportunity for people to see and comment on our plans. If we get planning permission we intend to be on-site early in the new year.
“Trafford Housing Trust is committed to bringing forward affordable housing in South Ribble and across the North West as we continue to tackle the current housing crisis. Around half of the new homes at Penwortham Mill will be available for affordable rent and shared ownership.”
The investment will see Lidl commit to building a sustainable store with 1,256m² sales area, with plans to create up to 40 new jobs. The supermarket will boast state of the art facilities including an instore bakery, customer toilets, and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Stuart Jardine, commented: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening a Lidl at Penwortham Mill and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce which shoppers across the country have come to love. We look forward to showcasing the plans online and answering any questions the public might have.”
