Trafford Home Developers Build Up to Crisis Fundraiser

Laurus Homes and Trafford Housing Trust colleagues to raise money for the Trafford Crisis Fund

Employees of a Trafford housing developer are setting off on a 120-mile fundraiser next week to raise money for the Trafford Crisis Fund.

The Laurus Homes team will be visiting 16 of their developments across the North West on 20/21 August, including sites in Sale, Altrincham, Timperley, Stretford and Partington, as well as going to developments further afield in Chorley, Delamere, Preston and Skelmersdale.

The charity bike ride and walk will finish at Bakers Court in Timperley, where Laurus, part of Trafford Housing Trust, is building 29 apartments, a state-of-the-art library, GPs surgery and a pharmacy on the site of the former library.

Hannah D'Arcy, Graduate Development Officer at Laurus Homes and one of the event organisers, said: “We are really excited about our site-to-site cycle and walk in support of the Trafford Crisis Fund. The Laurus team, together with our friends at Trafford Housing Trust, will be walking over 120 miles between a variety of our development sites.  Our goal is to raise £1,128, which is roughly £10 for every mile covered, and we would be really grateful for any donations.”

Trafford Crisis Fund aims to raise £250,000 to help people access basic provisions such as food and medication during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as making sure that those who are lonely and at risk have someone to talk to.  Donations can be made via a JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/TraffordCrisisFund

The fund is being administrated by Trafford Housing Trust on behalf of the people of the borough, and is supported by the Trafford Partnership, which includes Trafford Council and a group of charities, residents, businesses, faith groups and other local organisations committed to supporting Trafford residents.  All funds will go to the local charities and community groups who are on the frontline helping people in need in the borough.
