The residents of one of Trafford’s first social housing schemes in 10 years are moving into their new homes this week.
Chester House, a former shared office building on the Washway Road in Sale, has been transformed by Trafford Housing Trust in to 24 one and two-bedroom apartments, each of which have been designed, supplied and fitted to a high standard by local tradespeople such as Howdens of Altrincham, who supplied the kitchens.
The building has also been extended, adding two extra floors of timber frame construction as well as additional space at the back for residential parking and a bike store, and a side extension of three floors forming the entrance to the rear.
Graeme Scott, Development Director at Trafford Housing Trust, said: “We are extremely proud of this development, which delivers high-quality, affordable homes that challenge and easily surpass the traditional and out-dated view of what social housing can be. They are proving hugely popular with our customers, who also benefit from local facilities including the nearby Metrolink.
“With Chester House and the Carrfield Avenue social housing development in Timperley opening later this year, Trafford Housing Trust is really delivering on our promise to provide new affordable homes and tackle the housing crisis.”
